Do you know what your last name means and where it comes from...?

i have always been interested in what last names mean and where they come from and if someone famous in the past is related to us because of the same last name.

my last name comes from greek but my family is not greek.

it dates back to the year 700ce and it was around the time in europe when people were starting to get last names - i'm talking about the general people not monarchs.

Should I wait to be questioned by the elders? or take my leave in advance?

hi everyone, i recently joined this forum as i'm close to being df.

i am suppose to meet with a judical committee soon but was thinking that i don't want to go through those personal questions that i'm sure the elders would ask.

does anyone know, is it better to just tell the elders before, say like on the phone, that i want to be df and not go through the committee?

I had an elder calling wanting to meet with me, under the guise of a "shepherding call". I knew that really they wanted to ask me personal questions about my life and my view of the org. After ignoring his calls and emails, I finally emailed this elder (thus it was in writing...a good legal tactic btw) and told him I felt his "loving" calls felt like harassment and that I would contact him if and when I felt good and ready. He backed off.

In the end, I DA'd, but it was in my time when I was ready for it. Do not allow these men to have any power over you. Threaten legal action if you have to. This is your life. Don't let them fuck with it.

So in the end, they're winners aren't they? They both end up with self-fulfilling prophecies and get to feel that they're "right". Fucked up, but hey, that's how a lot of people move through their lives. Goodness knows we all did it as JWs.
